Network coverage

Where your eSIM works.

Covered

Republic of Cyprus

Your eSIM connects to Vodafone Cyprus and Epic, the island's two large mobile networks, and switches to the strongest signal automatically. Expect 5G in towns and resorts and 4G almost everywhere else — Larnaca, Paphos, Limassol, Nicosia, Ayia Napa, Protaras and the Troodos.

  • Vodafone · Up to 5G
  • Epic · Up to 5G

Not covered

Northern Cyprus

The northern part of the island (e.g. Kyrenia/Girne, Famagusta/Gazimağusa) uses different operators that aren't included. If you're crossing north, plan for a separate local option there. We'd rather tell you now than after you've paid.

Near the Green Line in Nicosia, your phone may try to connect to a northern network. If that happens, choose Vodafone or Epic manually in your network settings.

Where coverage is strongest

Expect fast 4G/5G in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, Ayia Napa and Protaras, along the motorways and in most villages. Like anywhere, signal can weaken inside thick-walled stone buildings, in remote valleys and on some mountain trails in the Troodos and Akamas.

CYTA, Vodafone, Epic: who's who?

CYTA is the state-owned telecoms company, and its mobile network is a Vodafone partner, so on your phone it may show as "Cytamobile-Vodafone", "CYTA" or similar. Epic is the other large network. Travel eSIMs like ours connect to these networks as a roaming partner. You don't buy a CYTA or Epic SIM, but you use their masts.

FAQ

Does my eSIM use CYTA or Epic?

Our Cyprus eSIM connects to Vodafone Cyprus (which operates in partnership with CYTA) and Epic. Your phone picks the strongest of the two automatically.

Is there 5G in Cyprus?

Yes. 5G is available in the main towns and many resort areas, and 4G covers most of the island. Your phone falls back to 4G where 5G isn't available.

Does it work in Northern Cyprus?

No. The northern part of the island uses different mobile operators, which aren't part of this plan.
