Using a US Phone in Cyprus: T-Mobile, Verizon & AT&T

· 3 min read

Your US phone will work in Cyprus, but what you pay depends a lot on your carrier and plan. Here's what each of the big three includes, what the daily passes cost, and when a prepaid Cyprus eSIM works out cheaper.

Checked on the carriers' websites on 21 October 2026. Plans change often, so confirm your own plan's terms before you travel. Prices exclude taxes and fees unless stated.

At a glance

Carrier Included in some plans Pay-per-use option A week in Cyprus costs about
T-Mobile Experience Beyond / Go5G Next: 15GB high-speed, then 256kbps. Experience More / Go5G Plus / Magenta MAX: 5GB high-speed, then 256kbps International Pass: $10 for 1 day (2GB), $50 for 10 days (15GB), $75 for 30 days (30GB) $0 on an included plan, or $50 for the 10-day pass
Verizon Unlimited Ultimate includes international data TravelPass $12 per day used; International Monthly Plan $100 (20GB high-speed) $84 with TravelPass (7 days)
AT&T Not included International Day Pass $12 per day used (max 10 charged days per bill), unlimited plans only $84 (7 days)

T-Mobile's included data drops to 256kbps after the high-speed allowance runs out. That's enough for messaging and maps but slow for photos and video. T-Mobile's Essentials plan includes texts abroad but no data.

Verizon in Cyprus

Cyprus is a TravelPass country at $12 per day, charged only on days you use your phone abroad. Over a week that's $84, and over two weeks $168. For longer trips, Verizon's International Monthly Plan is $100 for 20GB of high-speed data. Unlimited Ultimate customers have international data included.

AT&T in Cyprus

AT&T's International Day Pass is $12 per day on land, charged only on days you use your phone abroad, with a maximum of 10 charged days per line per bill period. Additional lines used the same day cost $6. It's only available on unlimited plans.

T-Mobile in Cyprus

Cyprus is on T-Mobile's list of 215+ destinations, so most plans include at least some data. Check how much high-speed data your plan includes; after that you're throttled to 256kbps. If you need more, an International Pass adds high-speed data from $10 a day.

When a Cyprus eSIM is cheaper

If you're on Verizon or AT&T and not on a plan with international data, a week of day passes costs around $84. A prepaid Cyprus eSIM with 5GB for 30 days costs a fraction of that, and you keep your US line active for calls and texts. Most US iPhones from the iPhone 14 onwards are eSIM-only, so installing one is easy.

Make sure your phone is unlocked. Phones still on a carrier payment plan may be locked. On iPhone, check Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock; it should say "No SIM restrictions". If not, ask your carrier to unlock it before you travel.

Don't forget Northern Cyprus

None of these options cover Northern Cyprus the same way, and a Cyprus eSIM doesn't work there at all. See our Northern Cyprus guide.
